Here are some small news updates lately…
In LS25…
The Garforth Townswomen’s Guild’s Summer Fair is coming up this Saturday. It is in aid of Kippax Growing Zone, a community gardening project. The fair will run from 10am til 12 noon at Garforth Welfare Hall, LS25 1AA.
There will be free face painting, refreshments, a cake stall, a tombola, books, jigsaws, plants and crafts.
Aberford Literature Festival is running over the weekend. The Garforth Gazette has already covered this in a previous article, which you can find here.
In East Leeds…
On Sunday the 21st June, Temple Newsam is holding its Summer Picnic- which means that they are opening the House and taking people on a farm tour too. There will also be crafts and entertainment. This is in conjunction with Family Fun Fest that also takes place on the grounds. The event runs from 11am to 3pm and tickets are £5.
The Family Fun Fest brings an artisan market and fairground rides.
Additionally, on the last Wednesday of the month (24th June), Temple Newsam holds its ‘Tea and Talk’ club, where people can listen to a free talk from an expert, have tea and a snack, and talk with like-minded people.
In Central Leeds…
On the 29th June, from 7.30pm to 9.20pm Opera North is bringing orchestral music to Millenium Square for an open-air performance. The event is open to everyone on a pay-what-you-can basis, playing recognisable pieces from major movies and sporting events. Tickets are available here.
