Four days ago, the Garforth and District Lions confirmed on social media that they would be returning a previously successful community monetary grants scheme, which ran before in 2025.
The Lions stated that ‘we are able to offer funding in support of causes, events and other enterprises planned by local organisations or individuals to benefit members of our community.’
Groups eligible for the grant would include Scouts and Girlguiding groups, school clubs, sports clubs, community groups, health groups, environmental groups, and any other group that fits the criteria for the programme.
Individual applications sent by people who are organising something to help the local community are also eligible.
Applications can be sent up until the 30th of April, with a form received from the email address gdlions.105C@gmail.com.
The Garforth Gazette will continue to report on events and fundraisers held by the Garforth and District Lions as the year progresses, including their Easter car boot sale on the 5th April.
Areas covered by the Garforth and District Lions’ grants include Aberford, Barwick, Scholes, Garforth, Micklefield, Lewsham, Ledston, Kippax, Allerton Bywater, Great Preston, Little Preston and Swillington.
