Today, 20th May 2026, Eco Friendly Garforth launched their first meeting of the new weekly youth club ‘Fair Shares’ at Garforth Library (from 5-6.30pm). This club is open for young people aged 12-14 years old, and intends to teach preteens and teens about sustainability.

Activities that people will be able to get involved with include socialising, gardening, woodwork, bike repair, community projects, cooking, plant care and more!

According to Eco Friendly Garforth’s Facebook posts, this club will run for a year and be free of charge. The money for this project has come from the National Lottery Community Fund.

During the first session, participants got a free spider plant to look after, made a collage vision board, planted sunflower seeds and took part in games.

This is not the first Fair Shares group activity that Eco Friendly Garforth have led this year. In February, there was a cooking workshop, too.
