St. Mary’s Youth Theatre have recently announced that they will perform their newest production ‘School of Rock- The Musical’ next month in arrangement with The Really Useful Group Ltd. The musical will run from the 11th June- 13th June, at 7.30pm, with a matinee at 3pm on the 13th. It will take place in the Garforth Welfare Hall and tickets will be £12.
This performance is based on the movie written by Mike White, with Jack Black as the lead. The music is composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with the lyrics by Glenn Slater. The book that inspired the movie was written by Julian Fellowes.
St. Mary’s Youth Theatre have been part of Garforth’s theatrical scene for many years, with last year’s performances ‘Newsies’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’ also being performed at the Garforth Welfare Hall. Two performances a year are conducted by actors aged 8-18, many of whom attend local schools and have a great interest in pursuing theatre as adults.
Alongside Garforth Musical Society, St. Mary’s Youth Theatre is a grassroots theatre group teaching people the importance of the arts in smaller towns like ours!
There will also most likely be another show of theirs in November, so keep your eyes out.
