Planning application shows that Garforth Aagrah intends to expand car park and restaurant

On Thursday 12th of March, a ‘Consent, agreement or approval required by conditions 3 (material samples), 10 (car park and servicing management plan), 11 (EV charging) and 12 (cycle parking) to planning application 24/06896/FU’ for Aagrah Garforth was decided, with the details indicating that the Indian restaurant plans to expand their car park in conjunction with East Garforth Primary, install power sources for electric cars there, and expand their existing indoor area by 300m².

On the planning application, the description of the proposal reads ‘Single storey rear extension and balcony terrace over existing flat roof to rear of existing restaurant’.

It was confirmed that there will be an upcoming Car Park and Servicing Management Plan submitted to the correct authority for this car park redevelopment. The document states that the plan shall include ‘agreement for use of the plan between the restaurant and adjacent school (Delta East Garforth Primary Academy), ‘agreed times that the car park can be used for each use on weekdays and weekends’, and other details about car park management.

Further documents detail that the plan presented is that between 7am and 4pm on weekdays, the further car park will be only available to those practicing school use. From 4pm, the parking is available for restaurant patrons. It is confirmed in a letter from Delta that these spaces are approved to be used by the restaurant after 6pm.

One document also states that the plan will not be approved until there is a full scheme for provision of Electric Vehicle Charging Points. This surely brings good news for those with electric cars!

There will also be an estimated ten cycle parking spaces provided for the site.

The decision notice by the council states that the Parking Management Plan has been considered acceptable, along with the condition describing the Electric Vehicle Charging Points and the condition describing cycle parking. There is more documentation required for Condition 3 relating to materials samples for the indoor expansion.

But wait… there’s more!

On the 23rd March, a planning application for the missed condition being discharged was validated… so now we will see if it will be confirmed!

In other, simpler words… there will be more space for Aagrah patrons to park, along with bike space and chargers for electric cars. The restaurant is also in talks to expand their indoor area.
