Thalassaki- a Restaurant Review!

After visiting Thalassaki, a Greek restaurant in Cross Gates last week, I thought that I would write a few words about the food and decor there. Now… I know that Cross Gates is not within the LS25 area… but it’s fifteen minutes away by car and twenty-five by bus- so I count it as Garforth-adjacent!

Let me start by saying that this restaurant was very popular and the people that were sat near us were celebrating for a birthday, which was already a great sign. The atmosphere was homely, with idyllic seascapes on the wall- evoking the name of the restaurant, Thalassaki– ‘the little sea of Greece.’

Plants and a sea view.

I started off with the Bruschetta Greca, toasted bread piled high with tomato, generous portions of feta and diced onion. The texture was crunchy, with an excellent bite. The taste was super umami! If you like onion, this dish is perfect for you, too. They also used olive oil, which added some depth of flavour.

The main course was piping hot out of the oven- a Greek staple, vegetarian Moussaka. The flavours were well-balanced, with the herbiness of the tomato sauce balancing out the mildness of the béchamel. The cheese on top formed a delicious, chewy layer. I savoured every bite when it was cool enough for me to savour!

Yummy!

The chocolate cake that I had for afters was very tasty too, but unfortunately there are no pictures of it because The Garforth Gazette restaurant team was too full, so she had to bring it back home in a box.

Some more decor.

Overall, not only was the food delicious with larger portion sizes, the servers were attentive and the atmosphere was convivial! Many thanks to the staff.

Hopefully I should be writing more food reviews for other places in Garforth and Kippax soon.
